RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A Northern Nevada nonprofit is working to show survivors of traumatic brain injuries that a diagnosis does not mean the end of the road.
BRAIN Nevada, the Brain Recovery Assistance Institute of Nevada, takes a different approach to recovery. Instead of a hospital setting, the organization focuses on the whole person, addressing sleep, nutrition, exercise and job placement.
Teresa Morros founded BRAIN Nevada and the Because I Can Foundation. She was inspired by her son, Josh, a professional off-road racer who defied medical odds after a catastrophic brain injury left him in a coma.
In his honor, the nonprofit takes a full-person approach, offering nutrition and fitness services along with job placement across the Truckee Meadows.
